Automotive OEM Component Validation
OEM plans require a specification/revision, production-representative parts and a test sequence that reflects the operating environment. No generic panel establishes OEM approval.
Methods and programme scope
Confirm the customer specification, edition, jurisdiction and actual provider scope. These summaries do not reproduce standards or establish compliance.
- Materials: orientation, process history and acceptance specifications matter to tensile, hardness and fatigue results.
- Corrosion: salt spray is a controlled comparison, not a universal prediction of service life; agree OEM cyclic protocols where relevant.
- Vibration/thermal/environmental work needs mounting, loads, operating modes, instrumentation and pre/post functional checks.
- EV battery and electronics work must distinguish cell, module, pack and vehicle-system scope; declare chemistry, energy, state of charge and containment needs.
- IATF 16949 is automotive quality-management context, not product certification or proof of independent laboratory accreditation; confirm OEM approvals separately.
- Separate EV battery abuse, thermal propagation, temperature/humidity, vibration and shock protocols. UN 38.3 concerns lithium-battery transport, not blanket vehicle safety certification.
Prepare samples and a useful request
- Provide product/material, manufacturing state, decision objective and applicable specification/revision.
- Agree sample quantity, fixtures, destructive testing permissions, hazards and transport with the provider before shipment.
- Specify the test sequence, controls, acceptance criteria, raw-data/report requirements and exclusions.
- Laboratory Vortex coordinates requests; providers perform work and you confirm qualification and contract terms.
