Battery & EV Testing Laboratories
Battery and EV testing covers electrical performance and life, environmental and mechanical robustness, safety and abuse behaviour, and materials work on electrodes and separators.
When is it used?
- Cell and pack qualification
- Transport approval
- Thermal runaway and incident investigation
- Material and supplier development
Sample and project requirements
- Declare cell/module/pack configuration, chemistry, energy, state of charge, electrical limits and cooling interfaces; shipping is regulated.
- Pack-scale abuse and thermal propagation require specific containment, instrumentation and emergency plans. A cell-level result does not establish pack or vehicle safety.
- Scope thermal cycling, temperature/humidity, vibration and shock with mounting, operating modes and functional checks.
- UN 38.3 is lithium-battery transport testing, not general EV certification. Confirm the transport test summary and applicable rules: https://unece.org/transport/dangerous-goods/rev8-files
- IATF 16949 concerns automotive quality management; provider accreditation and customer approval must be confirmed separately.
