Colorfastness Testing — AATCC vs ISO
Specify fabric construction, fibre blend, dye/print, finish, end use and destination market. ISO 105 and AATCC methods cover distinct exposures; a wash test does not substitute for light, perspiration or rubbing tests.
Agree the exact method, detergent, temperature, cycles, conditioning and grading for colour change and staining of adjacent fabrics. Request specimens from each relevant colourway and production lot.
A supplier statement or visual home wash is screening, not a documented laboratory result. Ask for the method-specific accreditation scope and agreed buyer acceptance criteria before sending samples.
