Restricted Substances in Textiles
Restricted-substance testing must follow the intended market, material and buyer restricted-substance list. Scope azo colourants, formaldehyde, selected metals, phthalates or other chemicals only where relevant to the components and requirements.
Separate rapid XRF or other screening from confirmatory laboratory extraction and analysis. A passing screen cannot establish compliance with every chemical restriction; report analytes, units, reporting limits and preparation method.
Provide dyed fabrics, prints, coatings, trims and accessories as separate identifiable components. Ask about matrix-specific validation and restrictions; voluntary certification schemes have their own authorization processes.
