Tracking USP–NF revisions and official dates

USP–NF is continuously revised. Knowing which text is official on a given date is the key compliance question for pharmaceutical testing laboratories.

Publication cadence

USP states revisions appear three times a year as Issues 1, 2 and 3, plus monthly Accelerated Revisions [1]. Standards in each issue generally become official after a six-month delay, while Revision Bulletins and IRAs are official on the date posted [1].

Accelerated revisions

Watch proposals early

Pharmacopeial Forum is a free bimonthly online journal of proposed revisions with a 90-day comment period [2]. Proposals are not official text; do not change methods until a revision becomes official.
