Industrial Hygiene & Occupational Exposure Testing
Workplace exposure monitoring combines on-site sampling by a qualified person with laboratory analysis of the samples. Describe the workplace, the agents of concern and the requirement you are working to, and we route the request to industrial hygiene providers and analytical laboratories.
Common monitoring needs
- Personal and area air sampling for respirable crystalline silica
- Metals such as lead, hexavalent chromium, manganese and beryllium
- Solvents, VOCs and other organic vapours
- Dusts, fibres and asbestos (sampling and microscopy)
- Noise surveys and personal noise dosimetry
- Ventilation and local exhaust performance checks
- Baseline, periodic and post-change exposure assessments
Who does what
- An industrial hygienist or trained technician plans and collects the samples on site
- An analytical laboratory analyses the collected media; look for industrial-hygiene accreditation in the relevant analyte scope
- The employer remains responsible for interpreting results against applicable limits and acting on them
Before you request quotes
- Process description, shifts and number of workers potentially exposed
- Agents of concern and any previous monitoring results
- The requirement you are working to (e.g. a specific OSHA standard, a customer or insurer requirement)
- Whether you need sampling, analysis, or both
How Laboratory Vortex fits in
Laboratory Vortex does not perform this work and is not a consultancy, testing laboratory or certification body. We take your request, check it is complete, and route it to providers whose published capabilities match. You compare scope, people and price, and contract with the provider directly.
