Cross-border laboratory testing: sample shipping, customs, data protection and quality agreements
Sending samples abroad involves carriers, customs authorities, possibly export-control and data-protection rules, and a contract that defines responsibilities. Planning these early prevents rejected shipments, degraded samples and disputed results.

Export controls and sanctions
Some materials, technical data and equipment are export-controlled. Check classification and destination rules before sending samples or drawings, and screen counterparties against applicable restricted-party lists.
Data protection and confidentiality
Test data may include personal data, trade secrets or regulated information. Identify which data-protection laws apply to the data you send — for example GDPR in the EU or China's Personal Information Protection Law — and agree storage location, access, transfer and deletion. Use NDAs where needed and share only what the method requires.
Quality agreement checklist
Laboratory Vortex is an independent sourcing marketplace — not a laboratory, accreditation body, certification body or regulator. Verify every credential and its exact scope in the official directory before relying on a result. Laboratory quality depends on the specific facility, scope, methods and controls, never on the country where it operates.
