Laboratory Design & Buildout
Coordinate laboratory architects, engineers and fit-out specialists for new builds and renovations. Design decisions must follow the actual processes, hazards and utilities — not a generic laboratory template.
Methods, standards and specialized scopes
Scope pointers only—not copyrighted standards text or a claim that an edition is current. Confirm required edition, jurisdiction, product applicability and provider qualifications before work.
- Program of requirements: document processes, equipment schedules, utility loads, storage, waste streams and future expansion before design starts.
- Ventilation and containment: fume hood density, air change rates, pressure cascades and biosafety or cleanroom classifications must match the actual hazard assessment.
- Utilities: power quality, gases, vacuum, purified water, drainage and data infrastructure are sized from the equipment schedule, not rule of thumb.
- Codes and standards context: local building/fire codes, OSHA laboratory standards where applicable, and biosafety guidance (BMBL context for BSL designations) shape the design; the design team confirms applicability.
- Commissioning plan: define verification of ventilation, utilities, safety systems and finishes before handover.
Typical applications
- Greenfield laboratory building or floor
- Laboratory renovation within an operating facility
- Cleanroom or containment suite fit-out
- Pilot plant or scale-up laboratory

- Process list, equipment schedule and utility requirements
- Hazard inventory: chemicals, biological agents, gases, radiation
- In your inquiry include: project objective, sector, geography/facility location, target timeline, indicative budget range, and any confidentiality constraints (NDA requirements, export controls, proprietary processes).
