ASTM E3511 PFAS Sampling — Laboratories & Overview
ASTM E3511 is an ASTM standard addressing the collection of samples intended for PFAS analysis, where equipment, consumables and field practice can themselves introduce the substances being measured.
When is it used?
- Planning field sampling for a PFAS programme with low reporting limits
- Standardising field practice across crews, rounds or sites
- Documenting sampling procedure where results may be challenged
Sample considerations
- A sampling practice does not replace the analytical method; both are needed.
- Coordinate with the analysing laboratory, which supplies kits and its own field instructions.
