How to Find a Laboratory for an ISO Test Method
ISO test methods span every industry, from tensile testing (ISO 6892) to biocompatibility (ISO 10993). Finding a laboratory follows the same logic as any standard-led search, with a few ISO-specific wrinkles.
Distinguish test methods from system standards
ISO 10993-5 is a test method a laboratory performs; ISO 13485 is a management-system standard a company is certified to. Make sure you are searching for a laboratory that performs the test, not one that is merely certified to a related system standard.
Confirm the edition and any national adoption
- State the full designation with year, e.g. ISO 527-2:2012
- Check whether your market references an adopted version (e.g. EN ISO, ASTM equivalents)
- For multi-part standards, identify the part you need
