Disinfectant Virucidal Efficacy Testing
Evaluate virucidal activity for a specified use claim with appropriately contained providers. Suspension, surface and carrier tests do not demonstrate identical performance.
Methods, applicability and limitations
High-level scope references only, not standards text or a claim about a current edition. Confirm product applicability, adopted edition, jurisdiction and provider authorization before ordering.
- Select a framework matching product, use environment and jurisdiction; EN 14476 is a suspension-test reference for relevant medical-area applications, not every surface claim.
- Agree virus/model, concentration, contact time, temperature, soil load and neutralization.
- Residual disinfectant can damage assay cells or continue acting after contact time; controls must distinguish assay interference from virus inactivation.
Sample and project requirements
No universal sample quantity is promised. Ask the receiving provider to confirm containers, minimum amount, preparation, hazards, storage, transport and acceptance before collection or shipment.
- Product formulation, proposed claim, dilution and use surface
- Jurisdiction, required protocol, contact conditions and containment
- Control strategy, reduction endpoint and report limitations
Compare provider proposals
- Request the selected method, suitability work, controls, detection/reporting limits and stated exclusions.
- Confirm relevant experience, actual accredited or authorized scope where needed, subcontracting and quality responsibilities.
- Agree raw data, reviewed results, interpretation, confidentiality, price and a provider-confirmed schedule.
- Laboratory Vortex coordinates requests; independent providers perform the work. No capability, award, compliance or turnaround guarantee is implied.
