B2B Molecular Assay Development & Validation
For developers and laboratories, define the molecular measurement and intended research or IVD use before selecting PCR, digital PCR or sequencing workflows. This is provider-development scoping, not consumer genetic testing or clinical result interpretation.
Start with intended use and specimens
Specify nucleic-acid target when known, specimen matrix, extraction, assay format, instrument and pipeline versions. RUO development is distinct from clinical IVD use. Define specimen access, consent/ethics, reference materials and confidentiality before work; do not upload patient genomes or medical histories in a general inquiry.
Compare workflow evidence
Consider extraction yield/inhibition, contamination controls, analytical specificity, detection capability, precision and relevant range. Sequencing proposals should define coverage/depth, variant classes where applicable, reference truth sets, quality thresholds and bioinformatics version/change control. Performance demonstrated for one matrix or variant class does not establish all others.
Analytical validation is not clinical interpretation
Clinical validity and utility require their own intended-population evidence and qualified oversight. FDA NGS guidance is product- and scope-specific, not a universal panel for every molecular assay. No diagnosis, clinical interpretation, placement in care or regulatory clearance is promised.
Sample considerations
